It is no larger than a few centimeters, but those who have burned themselves on a clinging meuse say that the sting is worse than that of a burn jellyfish. The pain also seems different: It aches throughout the body.
The burning clinging jellyfish was discovered in 2018 and has found its way home in the water at Lilla Askerön, in Bohuslän. Ideally, it wants to live in the eelgrass meadows that the researchers are now restoring in the area.
But now the question is: Can the restoration project cause the clinging jellyfish to spread along the West Coast?
