We tell stories about – and explore in depth – issues related to what happens in the sea. We deepen knowledge and awareness of key ocean issues. And when it comes to all things marine, we take a stand, because a healthy ocean is a human right. On the same basis, we defend life below the surface in all our stories.
We are based in Sweden but with a global presence, we produce stories and articles that connect science, policy makers and the public with the ocean.
If you want updates on our latest publications – subscribe to our newsletter.
And never hesitate to get in touch with topics you think we should recognise.
This is how we work:
Impartiality is the basis of all serious journalism. But according to the rules that apply to public service in the Western world, we must take a stand in favour of democracy, against dictatorship. This means we must be impartial in the defence of human rights. Healthy ecosystems and biodiversity are a prerequisite for the fulfilment of many human rights, such as the right to life, health and clean water.
We want our news to be republished in other media, with attribution, so that more people can learn about the ocean. If you are interested in our unique images or want to share our stories, please contact us to take the discussion further.

AI policy
– Deep Sea Reporter is responsible for all material published in our services, including material produced in whole or in part using automation, machine learning, so-called artificial intelligence or similar techniques.
– Our basic principle is that everything we produce is initiated by humans and reviewed by humans before publication. Any exceptions will be clearly labelled as such and, if they occur, will be based on verified sources.
– Our staff may use AI technology in their work to produce material. This may include researching, brainstorming, suggesting headlines or translating texts.
– However, everything we publish is produced, edited and fact-checked by a human.
– Deep Sea Reporter’s photographers do not use AI technology to produce images or video for our content.
– We do not accept AI-generated images from our Swedish or foreign suppliers in our image feed. If for some reason, for example if the story or text is about AI, we would use AI generated images they will be clearly marked.
– Deep Sea Reporter is committed to protecting sources. We do not give external AI platforms access to sensitive or proprietary information.
This policy may be updated as it evolves.
