Medes Islands, A Living Proof of Ocean Resilience

28 Sep, 2023

Human Impact on the Seas is Enormous. Traces of human activity can be found everywhere in the world’s oceans. But what would happen if we allowed the sea to be for a while? Give them a chance to recover?

An example of how it could be is the Medes Islands off the northern coast of Spain. The area has been protected since the 1980s and can provide a glimpse of what the entire Mediterranean once looked like. And perhaps how it could look in the future if given the opportunity.

The Medes Islands are a living example of the sea’s inherent ability to restore itself in a relatively short time. And something concrete to unite around when opinions differ on how to preserve marine life.
