Det har uppst\u00e5tt ett nytt, flytande ekosystem, bed\u00f6mer forskare.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8221;Sop\u00f6n&#8221; m\u00e4ter \u00f6ver 1,6 miljoner kvadratkilometer \u2013 drygt tre g\u00e5nger Sveriges yta \u2013 och driver runt i havet mellan Kalifornien och Hawaii. Det handlar inte om en kompakt \u00f6, utan v\u00e4rldens st\u00f6rsta sopansamling som \u00e4r l\u00f6st sammanh\u00e5llen av en enorm virvelstr\u00f6m som drar in skr\u00e4p mot mitten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Och just d\u00e4r, l\u00e5ngt ute till havs, har en m\u00e4ngd arter vars habitat normalt \u00e4r n\u00e4ra kuster lyckats \u00f6verleva och reproducera sig, visar en\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41559-023-01997-y#Sec2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">studie<\/a>\u00a0som har publicerats i Nature Ecology and Evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forskarna h\u00e4mtade in 105 f\u00f6rem\u00e5l under november 2018 till i januari 2019, fr\u00e5n de \u00f6stra delarna av det stora sopomr\u00e5det, p\u00e5 engelska kallat &#8221;The great pacific garbage patch&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ryggradslosa-djur\">Ryggradsl\u00f6sa djur<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>P\u00e5 de inh\u00e4mtade f\u00f6rem\u00e5len hittades 484 ryggradsl\u00f6sa djur av 46 olika arter, varav de allra flesta i normala bor fall n\u00e4ra kusten. Det verkar som att plastskr\u00e4pet har gjort det m\u00f6jligt f\u00f6r nya flytande ekosystem med arter som normalt inte kan klara sig p\u00e5 \u00f6ppet hav men faktiskt kan \u00f6verleva d\u00e4r, enligt forskarna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det var \u00f6verraskande att se hur vanligt f\u00f6rekommande de kustn\u00e4ra arterna var. De fanns p\u00e5 70 procent av skr\u00e4pet som vi hittade, s\u00e4ger Linsey Haram vid Smithsonians milj\u00f6forskningscenter (SERC) till\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2023\/04\/17\/world\/plastic-pollution-ocean-ecosystems-intl-climate\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mycket av det inh\u00e4mtade skr\u00e4pet var kraftigt nedbrutet och sk\u00f6rt efter att ha slitits ute till havs i m\u00e5nga \u00e5r. Plastskr\u00e4pet kan \u00f6verleva l\u00e4nge i havet, medan organiska material bryts ned och sjunker p\u00e5 n\u00e5gra m\u00e5nader eller m\u00f6jligen \u00e5r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ater-varandra\">\u00c4ter varandra<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>P\u00e5 vissa av f\u00f6rem\u00e5len hittades b\u00e5de kustn\u00e4ra arter och arter som brukar leva l\u00e5ngt ute till havs. D\u00e4r f\u00f6rekommer antagligen konkurrens om b\u00e5de utrymme och f\u00f6da, s\u00e4ger Linsey Haram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det \u00e4r sv\u00e5rt att veta exakt vad som p\u00e5g\u00e5r, men vi har sett bevis p\u00e5 att vissa kustanemoner \u00e4ter arter fr\u00e5n l\u00e4ngre ut till havs, s\u00e5 vi vet att viss predation p\u00e5g\u00e5r mellan de tv\u00e5 samh\u00e4llena, s\u00e4ger hon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forskare har tidigare varnat f\u00f6r att invasiva kustarter kan leda till betydande f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar i den marina milj\u00f6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vad det i l\u00e4ngden kommer att inneb\u00e4ra att nya arter har etablerat sig l\u00e5ngt ute till havs \u00e4r inte klarlagt, och det \u00e4r sv\u00e5rt att sl\u00e5 fast precis hur de har tagit sig ut s\u00e5 l\u00e5ngt till havs och hur de har lyckats \u00f6verleva.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>En enorm ansamling sopor driver runt i Stilla havet \u2013 och har blivit en hemvist f\u00f6r arter som anemoner och krabbor.
