Enligt klimatprognoser riskerar stora havsomr\u00e5den att kontinuerligt bli varmare \u00e4n s\u00e5 i framtiden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den nya studien sp\u00e5r att arten i ett v\u00e4rsta scenario kan halveras i m\u00e4ngd fram till \u00e5r 2100. Eftersom arten \u00e4r den mest f\u00f6rekommande sortens cyanobakterie \u00e4r den viktig f\u00f6r n\u00e4ringskedjan. De st\u00e5r f\u00f6r en femtedel av hela jordens syreproduktion, s\u00e4ger professorn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monika Quines Winder tror att andra arter kommer kunna \u00e5tminstone delvis ers\u00e4tta bakteriens roll som syreproducent, men prochlorococcus roll som energiproducent i n\u00e4ringskedjan \u00e4r desto viktigare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-oaterkallelig-grans\">O\u00e5terkallelig gr\u00e4ns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En av forskarna bakom studien som publicerades i tidskriften Nature, marinbiologen Fran\u00e7ois Ribalet, \u00e4r orolig f\u00f6r de konsekvenser det skulle kunna orsaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Vi h\u00e5ller p\u00e5 att korsa en gr\u00e4ns som kan vara o\u00e5terkallelig. I b\u00e4sta fall hoppas forskarna p\u00e5 att bakterien delvis kan anpassa sig och klara av h\u00f6gre temperaturer.
