Det inneb\u00e4r att vi snart kan f\u00e5 uppleva samma tillst\u00e5nd som under den postglaciala v\u00e4rmeperioden f\u00f6r 8&nbsp;000-4&nbsp;000 \u00e5r sedan.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Under den perioden var medeltemperaturen tv\u00e5 till tre grader h\u00f6gre \u00e4n i dag, och det v\u00e4ldiga ist\u00e4cket p\u00e5 Gr\u00f6nland minskade p\u00e5tagligt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; D\u00e5 f\u00f6rsvann alla&nbsp;glaci\u00e4rer&nbsp;i Sverige och i Alperna. De sm\u00e4lte bort, precis som m\u00e5nga andra&nbsp;glaci\u00e4rer&nbsp;runt om i v\u00e4rlden, s\u00e4ger Nina Kirchner, glaciolog vid Stockholms universitet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Sedan kom de tillbaka. Lilla istiden mellan 1300-talet och 1800-talet var h\u00f6jdpunkten, och i Sverige var de faktiskt som st\u00f6rst runt 1910, i Alperna n\u00e5got tidigare, runt 1860.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jordens&nbsp;glaci\u00e4rer&nbsp;\u00e4r cirka 200&nbsp;000 till antalet, varav n\u00e5gra av de st\u00f6rsta \u00e5terfinns i Alaska, arktiska Kanada och Himalaya (inlandsisarna p\u00e5 Gr\u00f6nland och i Antarktis \u00e4r inte medr\u00e4knade). Merparten av all is i v\u00e4rlden, 99,5 procent, \u00e5terfinns p\u00e5 Gr\u00f6nland och i Antarktis. Det inneb\u00e4r att avsm\u00e4ltningen av de vanliga glaci\u00e4rerna bara har marginell betydelse f\u00f6r havsniv\u00e5h\u00f6jningen. Men l\u00e4get bed\u00f6ms \u00e4nd\u00e5 som allvarligt av de flesta forskare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Klart att det \u00e4r allvarligt, inte f\u00f6r havsniv\u00e5n, men f\u00f6r ekosystemen i m\u00e5nga omr\u00e5den. De kommer att skadas n\u00e4r vattenf\u00f6rs\u00f6rjningen minskar eller p\u00e5verkas tidsm\u00e4ssigt av avsm\u00e4ltningen. V\u00e4xterna kommer att hamna i otakt med vattentillf\u00f6rseln under en viktig tid p\u00e5 \u00e5ret. Glaci\u00e4rerna f\u00f6rlorade tillsammans 227 gigaton is per \u00e5r fr\u00e5n 2000 till 2004, men 298 gigaton per \u00e5r fr\u00e5n 2015 till 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Intressant nog har glaci\u00e4rerna tills helt nyligen f\u00f6rlorat st\u00f6rre m\u00e4ngder is \u00e4n b\u00e5de Gr\u00f6nland och Antarktis trots att de senare rymmer mycket st\u00f6rre ismassor. I bakgrunden syns bergstopparna tre kronor med namnen Svea, Dana och Nora.\n<b>Foto Fredrik Sandberg<\/b><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Glaci\u00e4rer&nbsp;f\u00f6rsvinner helt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I en annan studie, publicerad i Geophysical Research Letters, analyserade forskarna alla&nbsp;glaci\u00e4rer&nbsp;som mynnar i havet p\u00e5 norra halvklotet. Analysen ger vid handen att 85,3 procent av glaci\u00e4rerna har retirerat sedan \u00e5r 2000. Totalt minskade deras utbredning med 7&nbsp;527 kvadratkilometer och drygt sju procent av glaci\u00e4rerna f\u00f6rlorade sin kontakt med havet under perioden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En tredje studie, i Nature Geoscience, fann att m\u00e4ngden vatten i v\u00e4rldens bergsglaci\u00e4rer tycks ha \u00f6verskattats. M\u00e4ngden \u00e4r cirka 20 procent mindre \u00e4n vad man tidigare har trott, vilket inte b\u00e5dar gott f\u00f6r framtiden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u00e5 vad kan vi v\u00e4nta oss? Enligt IPCC kommer 80 procent av glaci\u00e4rerna i h\u00f6galpina omr\u00e5den p\u00e5 jorden att ha f\u00f6rsvunnit helt eller ha minskat kraftigt \u00e5r 2100. I Sverige har 24&nbsp;glaci\u00e4rer&nbsp;minskat med i genomsnitt 50\u201360 meter under perioden 2010-2018.
