Transmitters placed in the womb can provide information about the young of sharks

Researchers in the United States have developed a transmitter that can reveal where and when sharks give birth to their offspring, according to Vetenskapsradion.

The satellite transmitter is both water- and pressure-resistant and is inserted into the shark’s uterus to track the location of the pups’ birth.

The researchers hope to gain a better understanding of the shark’s reproduction and important ocean areas through this project, which has already been successfully implemented on a few sharks. Similar experiments have previously been conducted on land animals.
